Rook Radio #1 - Afrobeats & Funk (1hr mix)
Welcome to Rook Radio, where we explore the latest vinyl trends representing music from across the world, past and present. There is a wealth of new music coming out on vinyl, whether that be fresh electronic bangers or rare 70's African reissues. We aim to compile our picks of the bunch into regular 60 minute mixes to keep you guys in the loop, and to keep us on our toes!
The first episode is one I've been planning for some time now. As our regulars will know, we take pride in stocking all the latest afro-influenced reissues. This mix is a compilation of my favourite African-inspired funk tracks. The journey starts in the 1970's with the likes of Fela Kuti and Tony Allen, and continues through to the present day. There was way too much music to fit on this one mix, so watch this space for volume 2 soon.
We want to thank all of the record labels that consistently dig this stuff out for reissue (you know who you are). None of this would have been possible without you!
