As part of our Brazil event last month, King Dom (Time Capsule Records) came by with a bag of stupidly rare Brazilian records. These records are the result of a lifetime of heavy digging, this set is not to be missed!

Host of Beatsource Tech on DJ City TV, Beatport and Beatsource affiliate and general DJ technology geek Mojaxx joined us at Rook HQ. He brought with him some killer hip hop, funk and soul 45s, all expertly blended on our Pioneer S7.

In which the London based selector and founder of local party and record label “Discothèque Tropicale” journeys through a selection of deeper, more listening orientated records from across the African continent. As is in his nature it certainly has party starting elements by the end… but tune in for part 2 soon which will be all about the dance 💃🌍

For our NYC vs Tokyo event in December, Deejay Nye and Infinity from London's Half East Records gang passed by the shop with an 'East meets West' b2b selection of Hip Hop neatly combined with Japanese city-pop and boogie.

Kit Lockey is the co-owner of community station Voices Radio; an avid radio man previously hosting regular shows on the likes of Balamii and Netil Radio. He dropped by Rook last month to spin an eclectic set, from global sounds and afrobeat to hip hop, broken beat and house. You can catch him spinning regular sets on his Kings Cross based radio, Voices.

Rooted in the sun-kissed lands of Andalusia, southern Spain, and now calling Newcastle home, her sets showcase sounds from the Caribbean, Brazil, and across Latin America and Africa, all deeply infused with the essence of jazz, rare groove, funk, soul, boogie, and disco— genres that form the core of her musical identity. For her appearance on Rook Radio, she brought some reggae and dub sounds and fused them effortlessly with Latin flavours. This is one to usher on spring time!

Aroe was back in the shop for our December NYC vs Tokyo event and brought with him some killer old-school rap records. There are some serious rarities in here so this is one for the heads...

Rival Self came by the store for our NYC in-store and provided an incredibly unique mix like nothing we've seen at Rook before! He brought some killer breaks, from soul and funk to prog rock, and mixed them effortlessly with the help of a loop machine and even a 4-track cassette! This is one to watch closely...

DJ Prime Cuts, aka Joel Clements, founded Scratch Perverts with Tony Vegas and DJ Renegade in London in 1996, winning two World DMC Team titles together. Since then he's gone on to perform around the world and is widely considered one of the UK's finest!

He visited Rook Records last week and brought with him a killer selection of funk & soul breaks, all blended with expert precision. For the battle minded DJ, this is surely one to watch...
