Rook Records welcomed Northern Soul legendary DJ and collector John Manship to the store last month. He brought with him some amazing deep and sweet soul 45s to play a stunning 2 hour masterclass!

A DJ with a passion for infectious grooves, Alena Arpels fuses disco, boogie, funk and house creating an unforgettable experience for dancers!

Miles Away head honcho Dom Ore came by the shop earlier this year to launch their Miles Away: One compilation. Miles Away is an independent record label based in London, the label’s aim is to celebrate and amplify the sounds of afro-beat, disco, jazz, funk, soul & Boogie from all over the world and this is exactly what this DJ set does!

Dave Shep came by with a selection of 45s, starting with some reggae and moving through soul, funk, breaks and hip hop and blended with finesse!

With a reputation as a versatile go-to DJ and record collector, London-based Discothèque Credits has become a London nightlife line up fixture. For his set at Rook for RSD 24 he brought some killer house 12s, all blended expertly! 

São Paulo based selector DJ Nyack passed through Rook Records while on tour in the UK earlier this year. He brought with him a killer 45s set ranging from Brazilian MPB and bossa, through to funk, soul and hip hop all expertly blended on vinyl!

DJ SWERVE is one of the UK’s best known R&B DJs from over 20 years on London’s World Famous KissFM. During this time he interviewed many heavy hitters including Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Chris Brown, 50 Cent and many more. For his set at Rook Records he's showing a different side of his musical taste and demonstrating how broad his skillset is, travelling through 70s Disco into 80s Boogie-funk and beyond. Expect an hour long DJ masterclass, all on vinyl!

Conservator and archiver of Brazilian music Palo Santo Discos came by the shop and brought with him the most incredible selection of Brazilian Bossa Nova, MPB, Samba and Jazz. When he's not busy hunting for rare wax, you can find him on one of his monthly NTS radio shows. Many of these are rare and extremely hard to find, so enjoy them here while you can!

Valentine Comar passed through for our RSD24 event and brought with her some killer global vinyl rarities from African folk, to Thai funk and even some French hip hop thrown in for good measure! You can catch at one of her many London spots including Brilliant Corners, or her residency on Voices Radio.
